world power Cain and Abel?

Is the story of Cain and Abel really about two people wanting control over the earth; one taking it too far? Who would control planet Earth's resources? One could argue the battle over Earth's territories and resources still exist till this day:

"In a Midrash (Genesis Rabbah 22: 7)the brothers (Cain and Abel)divided the world between them, one taking all the land, the other all the movables. The one who took the land ordered the other to get off his land and fly in the air. The one who took the movables ordered the other to strip naked because the clothes belonged to him."
