my ancestors my greatness

Today I was thinking about my ancestors dreams and goals. All of my #ancestors, for the last 6000 years; what were their dreams and goals? How different are they from my dreams? Asking myself, do I have a responsibility to achieve my dreams for their sake?

In parsha #Vaychi which literally means in Hebrew "and he lived"... Before passing away, #Yosef gives a #prophecy for future generations saying "God will surely remember you, and ye shall carry up my bones from this place". A Midrash asked why Jacob told #Joseph in #Genesis 47:29, “Bury me not, I pray, in #Egypt.” Many #biblical sages held the opinion it was so that #Egyptians should not make Jacob an object of idolatrous worship. Torah clearly states as idolaters will be punished, so will their idols too be punished, as Exodus 12:12 says, “And against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments.” The fulfillment of #yoseph prophecy manifested generations later. When Moses and the Israelites started to leave Egypt, Moses remembering Yoseph. #Moshe searched for Yosef coffin in all the land of Egypt, but could not locate it.

There was a lady named #Serah who was the only living person in Egypt from Yoseph's generation . Moses went to her and asked: “Do you know where Joseph is buried?” She answered: "They placed him here (pointing towards the Nile River). The Egyptians made for him a metal coffin and sunk it in the Nile, so that its waters would be blessed."Moses then went to the Nile, stood on the bank and shouted to the top of his lungs : "Joseph, Joseph, the time has come for the oath that God swore to our father Abraham, that He will redeem His children. Give honor to the Lord, the God of Israel, and do not delay your redemption, because we are delayed on your account. If you show yourself, it will be well; and if not, then we are free from your oath [if you will not raise your coffin, we will go forth from Egypt and leave you here]." Yoseph’s coffin immediately rose to the surface on the Nile River and Moses took it (Mekhilta de-Rabbi Ishmael, Masekhta Vayehi Beshalah, Petihtah; BT Sotah 13a).

Sometimes you may lack the strength to move forward in life; think about your ancestors & how much their counting on you to become great!
